Home Help Getting Started Onboarding Wizard

Onboarding

When you first sign up to PushBackLog, a guided onboarding wizard walks you through the essential setup steps so you can start delivering work as quickly as possible.

How the Wizard Works

The wizard shows a progress rail on the left (or top, on mobile) listing every step. Completed steps have a check mark and can be revisited at any time by clicking them. The wizard advances automatically as you complete each step, but you can also navigate freely between completed steps.

Step 1 — Welcome

Name your organisation and confirm the workspace display name. This name appears in the sidebar header and in all notifications. You can change it later in Settings → Company.

Step 2 — Your Company

Confirm or update the company profile information PushBackLog uses to ground its AI suggestions:

  • Website URL — your primary domain (auto-detected from your sign-up email if available)
  • Industry — select the closest match; used to tailor AI-generated personas and backlog suggestions
  • Company purpose — a brief description of what your company does; AI-generated from your website, editable

Completing the company profile unlocks richer, more context-aware AI suggestions throughout the platform.

Step 3 — Meet Your Team

Review a set of AI-generated persona suggestions tailored to your company and industry. Select the personas that reflect your team’s real roles — these will be added to your organisation’s persona roster and used during AI refinement.

You can deselect any suggestion and add custom personas later from the Personas section.

Step 4 — GitHub

Connect your GitHub account via the PushBackLog GitHub App to enable AI Pods to read and modify your repositories. This step is optional — you can skip it and connect later from Settings → GitHub.

See the GitHub Integration article for full setup instructions.

Step 5 — First Project

Create your first project. Enter a project name and a short key (2–6 uppercase letters, e.g. APP). The key is used as a prefix for all ticket IDs (e.g. APP-1, APP-2). The key cannot be changed after creation.

Step 6 — Quality Gates

Set baseline quality gate thresholds for your organisation. Quality gates determine when an item is considered ready to move between lifecycle stages:

  • Creation threshold — the minimum quality score required to save a new item (0 means advisory only)
  • Refinement threshold — score required before an item moves to Ready (default: 70)
  • Execution threshold — score required before an item can be dispatched to an AI Pod (default: 85)

These defaults can be adjusted later in Settings → Quality Config.

Step 7 — Invite

Invite collaborators to your workspace. Enter their email addresses and choose a role (Admin or Member). Invitees receive an email with a sign-up link valid for 7 days.

You can invite more members later from Settings → Company → Members.

Finishing Up

Once all steps are complete, the wizard shows a confirmation screen and redirects you to your new project’s backlog. From here you can start creating backlog items or use Quick Intake to add your first items rapidly.

Re-running the Wizard

If you want to revisit the onboarding steps, navigate directly to /onboarding from your browser. All previously saved information will be pre-filled.
